Video tour of the Cowichan Valley Needlearts Guild’s 20th Anniversary Exhibition
I shot this this morning for my guild and slapped it up on YouTube this evening:
The Cowichan Valley Needlearts Guild‘s 20th Anniversary Exhibition runs from July 9th through 21st at the Portals Gallery in the lobby of the Island Savings Centre in Duncan, BC.
The pieces in the exhibition show a range of different techniques our members like to do, from canvaswork/needlepoint and cross-stitch to hardanger and other pulled thread to stumpwork and goldwork and mixed-technique samplers. Styles range from the very traditional and elegant to bold and contemporary to folksy and even “primitive.”
This is a video tour of the exhibition done by yours truly, a member of CVNAG. Sorry for the couple spots where I had to drop the audio, there was a loud conversation going on next to where I was filming and I figured no one wanted to have to listen to it on the video, lol. (Least of all me.)
Only one of my pieces went into the exhibition, but then, I only really got into needlework last year (stuff I did as a kid doesn’t count), and the bulk of what I’ve stitched (and actually finished such that it could be displayed) was Christmas and Hallowe’en stuff, which doesn’t work so well for an exhibition in July, lol.
We usually have the small display case in the library for at least a couple of weeks in December and last time I had 2 pieces in that exhibition, this year I should have a few more.
